Rebuilding a Kitchen After Hurricane Damage

After suffering significant hurricane damage, homeowner Julie set out to rebuild her kitchen with a design that reflected the warmth and natural beauty of her riverside home. Her goal was to create a welcoming space with earthy colors, natural textures, and timeless materials that would reconnect the interior of the home to its surroundings.

A Dramatic Timbalada Granite Island Takes Center Stage

The focal point of the renovation is a stunning 1 1/4" thick Timbalada granite island countertop. Known for its flowing movement and rich blend of dark greens, browns, golds, and warm earth tones, the slab immediately became the centerpiece of the entire kitchen design.

The natural variation within the stone adds depth, character, and visual warmth while complementing the relaxed riverside aesthetic Julie envisioned for the space.

Coordinating Ubatuba Granite Countertops

To complement the movement and color variation of the island, Julie selected Ubatuba granite for the perimeter countertops. The deep green tones harmonize beautifully with the darker accents found within the Timbalada slab, creating a balanced and cohesive overall design.

A matching 4-inch backsplash along the perimeter countertops provides a clean, finished appearance while helping tie the entire kitchen together.

Seamless Fabrication and Finishing Details

A consistent half-bullnose edge profile was used throughout the kitchen to create visual continuity and soften the overall look of the stone surfaces.

Careful fabrication and installation ensured:

  • Clean transitions
  • Consistent edge detailing
  • Balanced slab presentation
  • A polished, cohesive finished look

A Warm, Inviting Space Designed for Everyday Living

The completed renovation not only restored Julie’s kitchen after hurricane damage but transformed it into a warm, inviting gathering space inspired by the natural beauty of riverside living.

The combination of dramatic Timbalada granite and rich Ubatuba granite creates a timeless design that feels elegant, grounded, and connected to the surrounding environment.
